Reflexology

Reflexology is a simple non-invasive technique which helps your body to maintain a balanced state. Having reflexology  can help to eliminate toxins from your body, relieve stress and boost circulation.  It can also help to detect certain disorders or imbalances which can often be successfully eliminated with regular treatments.

How Can Reflexology Help You?

Reflexology treats the whole person, not the symptoms of disease, so most people will benefit from treatment.

In today's hectic society stress plays a major part in our lives.  It has been estimated that 75% of illness is stress related. When under pressure we become tired, suffer from headaches, muscular aches and pains and become more prone to catching colds and flu.

Following illness, stress, injury or disease your body is in a state of imbalance which prevents your body from functioning efficiently.  Reflexology can be used to encourage healing and restore your body's natural equilibrium. Even if you're not feeling stressed reflexology can help by simply giving you some time to "switch off" from your busy day to day life.

By applying gentle pressure to the reflex points on your feet I can detect imbalances, and by working over these points can release blockages, ease tension, improve circulation and restore balance and well being.

Reflexology has many benefits and is suitable for people of all ages. It is becoming more and more popular as a safe, natural way of balancing and relaxing the body.

What Happens During My Treatment?

On your first visit I will go through a consultation with you.  This is of course confidential and will cover basic questions about your health and lifestyle.

Once you're nice and comfy on my couch I will give your feet an introductory massage.  This gets you used to me touching your feet and helps you relax.

I then work over the reflex points on your feet with a firm, but gentle pressure. There may be some discomfort in places, but this is a fleeting sensation and is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding area of your body. For the most part the sensation is pleasant and soothing.

To conclude the session your feet are treated to a lovely massage with gorgeous foot lotion. The treatment takes approximately 45 minutes, but allow an hour for your appointment.

Aftercare Advice

After your session you should try to rest and drink plenty of water. This encourages toxins to be flushed out of your body.

After the first treatment your body may respond in a very definite way. Some people feel energised, others very relaxed. This shows you are benefiting from reflexology.

Benefits of Reflexology

This therapy may sound a little odd, but over the years I've had many positive results. It can help to improve a wide range of health issues including; insomnia, period problems, anxiety, migraines/headaches, pain, infertility, menopausal symptoms and is brilliant during pregnancy (after first trimester).

Hot Stone Reflexology

Hot stone reflexology is also available as an upgrade to regular reflexology.  This gives a more intense treatment.  The heat from the stones helps to relax the muscles in your feet allowing me to work more deeply into the reflex points. It is warming, extremely soothing and helps to melt away tension and anxiety.

For those of you who have never tried reflexology before I would advise having a regular treatment to start with as this allows me to assess any problem areas.
